turning a day around

This morning I awoke from an endless string of dreams that left me stressed,
sad and longing for reality.
Then back pain that is persistent but tolerable.
Thirty minutes ago I was about to give up on my work afternoon
but I decided to recharge instead.

I went for a walk to the river.

I searched for inspiration in the washed up wood that had been smoothed
my path the rocks that poked up through the mud
my music the sound of the river rushing, the birds calling out
at the edge of the river I began my work
rocks began to tower
balanced in the fragile way they do
then an arched twig found it's place on top
as the wind whispered a greeting
the twig danced in circles
movement and balance
joy
